Urban festival Brussels Jazz Weekend launches new platform for emerging jazz talent.
Brussels Jazz Weekend does it again. After the successful Balcony Edition (29 & 30 May 2021), the free city festival is once again launching a creative and innovative concept in a financially particularly challenging period for the music sector. With Brussels Jazz Alert, the organization creates a platform to present emerging Brussels jazz projects to a wider audience.

Every month, Brussels Jazz Weekend puts one new jazz formation in the spotlight. The festival does this in various ways. For example, there will be an exclusive podcast (with reporter Pauline Augustyn) and a photo report (with photographer Monday Jr.). This way, jazz lovers get a unique look behind the scenes of these emerging bands.

Showcase with LeFtO as host

The month ends with a showcase in a Brussels club, hosted by none other than music aficionado par excellence LeFtO. Before the concert, LeFtO talks to the musicians about their favorite records. On that basis, he turns some musical suggestions. A nice chat and a lot of new musical inspiration guaranteed. Even after the concert, LeFtO chats with the artists for a while, including about inspiring places in Brussels. Each band will create a unique composition for this showcase with the theme 'Brussels'. Later this year, all showcases can be heard on Kiosk Radio.

Launch on August 24th

The concept of Brussels Jazz Alert has already been extensively tested during the event-free period of 2021 with Schroothoop (11/05 – Roskam), Black Flower (15/06 – UK), One Frame Movement (22/06) and M.Chuzi (13 /07 – Halles St.Gery). Each and every one of them diverse and fascinating projects that are documented on the Instagram channel and the Brussels Jazz Alert website.

From August 24, you will find out everything about TUKAN via Brussels Jazz Alert and for a month you will discover what drives and inspires them. On September 14 you can attend the showcase of TUKAN (hosted by LeFtO) for free in café de Monk (Sint Katelijnestraat 42, 1000 BXL).
(For information and tickets – free after registration! - interested parties can visit the social media & website of Brussels Jazz Alert.)

Also the bands Aishinka, Lupa Gang Gang and ECHT! are on the list this year.

If you miss a showcase, don't worry: all Alert artists can be seen again on a stage at Brussels Jazz Weekend on 27, 28 and 29 May 2022.
